Photography has been about half of my image making life and maybe the most Meaningful...I can see my boys growing up time after time and jolt my memory into recalling some pretty great moments in life With a background in fine arts" it has never made much difference to me which medium I worked in as long as the image was produced. I worked with so many different mediums that it has become very interesting that computers and software programns have allowed a wonderful avenue for combining thoughts from all of them. (Iswore I had no use for the technology...boy was I wrong. There are several people on the list that I've been lucky enough to meet and had such an admiration for that I feel more than pleased to be included in this project. Kyle, Dieter, Singer, Whitehead, Pugh...damn those guys are great...I hope they have some small memory of me and I want them to know that even though I consider my skills average I have had a great time

shooting pretty people, average people, famous and important people. people getting married, people being dead; wheels tires, ballbats, ball gloves, ping pong balls, and basketball goals, golfers gators forses dogs, chickens and llamas. Aerials and underground, pot lines and land plots, hand shakes and people getting awards instead of raises. waterfalls, deserts, rainforests and barnyards, then there are my favorite...black rubber couplings, military manuvers, pizza parlors, zoos, rodeos, children playing, my boys growing up and my friends growing old. Jugglers mimes, Native Americans and a really accident prone fellow who went by the name of PYRO THE MAGICIAN" Occasionally, I have shot myself, sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident. I have worked for corporations, universities, ad agencies, theme parks, nieghbors, friends and family...its all been a pretty good time, Thanks, John PS...I am sad to hear Randy Singer has passed on...the first time I saw his work back around 1976, I realized I had a long way to go. |
| A photographer (usually) needs to see the scene as it happens, then the photographer captures it with a device. An artist visulalizes the picture, then the artist creates an image of his vision. John is an artist who constantly conjurs up images and ideas for images. I only wish I could do that. It is good to know there is a John Dawson still out there figuring out and doing great images. |
Ask LK Whitehead about John Dawsons hand in this photo. Be sure you have an extra 15 minutes, it's a long story. |
