His Shriners’ photograph, titled “An
Editorial Without Words”, is used as the official icon on virtually
all publications of the Shriners and was premiered in October 1997. It
served as a model for a statue commissioned and erected outside the Shriner’s
international headquarters in Tampa, FL. They have since been erected
at dozens of shrines throughout the United States as well as the one by
noted sculptor artist, illustrator and author Chris Navarro commissioned
by the Hadi Shrine in Evansville in 2003. |

Writer has amassed over 350 awards in various newspaper contests and juried art shows during his career. His works have appeared in syndicated material, magazines, national publications, on posters and greeting cards. The writer’s page design has also received numerous professional awards. Book of photography, ‘Do I know Your Face’, published by The Hill Fine Arts Center in 1973. Also contributed to: ‘Seed Thoughts’, ‘Contrasts’, ‘A Sense of Balance’ and ‘The Gift of Awareness’. National Press Photographers Association 1972 Photographer of the Year for Region 4. One of thirteen photographers selected from national pool for “Profile of a Photojournalist,” a slide/tape presentation made in conjunction with Arizona State University’s journalism department for NPPA’s educational programs. Photo essay on elderly received international display in America Illustrated magazine Chairperson for INPA Seminar securing feature speaker Dean Conger, National Geographic’s Assistant Photographic Director and winner of Nikon’s World Understanding Award in 1978. Seminar attracted over 400 participants, five times normal attendance..

Twice elected Southern V.P. for the Indiana News Photographers Association and served as its Clip Contest Chairman for several years. Board of Directors for EPC Federal Credit Union and the Evansville Press Club.
Instructed Lockyear College students in basic and advanced photographic
course in conjunction with Brescia College arts program. Purchased and
set up darkroom facilities as well as developed classroom instructional
program. SERVED AS JUDGE: Northern Kentucky’s “Day in the Life” Contest, Southern Short Course, Iowa Press Photographers Association, University of Evansville Journalism Day, Illinois Press Association, Indiana Vocational College, Evansville Camera Club, Vanderburgh 4H Photo Show, Evansville Museum Art Show, Willard Library Art Show.
