John Dunham |

John Dunham, a 1989 Western Kentucky University graduate,
began his photojournalism career as graphics editor/photojournalist at
the Thomasville Times, a small paper in North Carolina. He volunteered
as clip chair for North Carolina Press Photographers Association. Dunham
won several awards in NCPPA and North Carolina Press Association. After
a brief stint there, Dunham, a Louisville native, joined the staff of
the Evansville (Ind.) Press.He was promoted to chief photographer and
became director of photography/graphics, a title he held until the paper
closed in 1998. While at the Press, Dunham was an active member of the
Indiana News Photographers Association as clip contest chairman and web
editor in 1997. He won several photography awards from INPA, the Hoosier
State Press Association and Indiana Association Press Managing Editors
Photo Contest. After eight years in Indiana, Dunham joined the staff of
the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer.While at the M&I, Dunham has won
several photography awards in Kentucky News Photographers Association,
Kentucky Press Association and Region 4 clip contest. He held the vice
president's office with KNPA in 2003-'05.While at Western, Dunham interned
at the Louisville (Ky.) Defender, Muskegon (Mich.) Chronicle, the Jackson
(Mich.) Citizen-Patriot and the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post. He was the Student
NPPA chapter president in '88 and '89. Dunham won WKU's Outstanding Photojournalism
Senior award in 1989. He placed third overall in the Student Monthly Clip
Contest also in '89. Dunham has been a senior staff member at the Mountain
Workshops for his 19th year. |
