| I dislike writing a bio, but then I love reading them...so here goes. Kimberly Jo Whitmore. Born June 1, 1958 (I told my age), graduated North HS-Evansville, IN 1976. Married in the year 2000 for the second time to Bill Weber, my soul mate. My two sons, Kasey (22) and Jaron (21) are growing into remarkable men. My dogs Bear and Polly are a joy! I spend time being a mom, daughter, step-grandparent, and wife enjoying whatever comes my way. Our home is only partially the way we want it to be, and I enjoy this time off from Wedding Photography to make my house a home. To say Photography is a passion? Photography is my life? Photography is an interest of mine? are all understatements. Photography is a part of who I am. I received the family hand-me-down cameras. From the age 8-19, I owned two Kodak Brownie's, a Polaroid Swinger, my first camera and fav-the Kodak 126 instamatic, and my last hand-me-down, Polaroid color camera. My first full-time job out of HS? Schmitt Photo in 1977. A co-worker Daniel Knight, helped me chose my first 35mm camera. The Nikkormat FT3/50 1.8/Micro 105 2.5/Sunpak 322 went everywhere with me! In 1986, I bought my first auto exposure 35mm camera-Nikon FE2. This was a personal purchased from Nikon. (Dealer employees could buy at 10% under dealer cost. BONUS our name was engraved on the base plate). My order: FE2-black/data back/motor drive attachment. My second full-time job was with WFIE-TV as a Tape Technician in 1979. At Channel 14, I spent 6.5 years as a Tape Tech running 2" tape machines. I loaded comercials on 2" reels for air, edited promos & commercials, and later briefly ran a Sony 1" reel tape/slo-mo machine for local broadcasts of HS |
Football/Basketball games. Mike Blake was the sports man, David James and Marcia Yocky with news and weather. Then came Lloyd Lyndsay Young and who can forget The Professor, for weekend weather! Returning to Schmitt Photo in 1985, I transfered home movies to VHS, until joining the sales staff again 1995-2000. In 1991, my FE2 was sold so I could buy my first AF camera-Nikon 8008s/Speedlight SB-24/35-70 2.8. Later I upgraded to the Nikon N90s/SB-25/35-135 3.3-5.6. My first digital was in 1999. No longer an employee, a Schmitt Photo rummage sale purchase of the Nikon Coolpix 950, introduced me to the digital revolution. (I resisted digital up until now). In May 2000, Whitmore-Weber was born. Shooting a Bronica SQ-A for formals, Nikon N90s for candids, Coolpix 950 was used to create digital images for the "Romance Video" when the couple saw each other before the ceremony. Kai's Power Show included 3D-type effects for transitioning between images, and it wasn't until I discovered Photodex's Pro Show software that I could output to DVD. (Kai's used an installed player for the computer only.) From 2002-2007: Fujifilm FinePix S2, Nikon D100, Nikon D2, Nikon D2s, Nikon D200. Currently: Nikon D300, Speedlights SB-800, Lenses owned: Tamron 28-200 2.8, Nikon 24mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 35-70mm 2.8, 17-55 2.8, 70-200mm 2.8 VR-S, 105mm 2.8 Micro, 10.5 Fisheye. Am I equipment hog? Not as bad as Daniel Knight, but close. LOL. So what kind of photographer am I? At this point in my life, I am "finding myself" creatively. Techno nerds get wrapped up in the technical stuff, and have a difficult time being creative. I feel it, I just can't put my shutter finger on it yet. |
